The $52 million first phase of renovations to the Kentucky Fair and Exposition Center (KFEC) is progressing on schedule, as construction on a 167,000 square-foot expansion of the South Wing is under way.
The project is slated for completion prior to RVIA’s 2005 show.
RVIA reported that over the next few months visitors will begin to notice the completion of parking lots, the final additions to lighting and the front circle construction.
Signs of building progress are now visible with the construction fence in place and two walls currently being constructed. One wall will house the new grand stairway to the VIP suite while the other will serve mainly as a service corridor.
Underground rough-ins for electrical and plumbing hook-ups, along with a 60-inch sewer line were installed in June, and steel to begin structure framing arrived in late July.
The first phase of construction for South Wing C, projected to be complete in October 2005, will include 27-foot high ceilings along with the additional 167,000 square feet of meeting space.
The second phase of the project includes a renovation of the East Wing, East Hall and addition of a major pre-function area.
