The deadline is almost here for applying for the Recreation Vehicle Dealers Association (RVDA) Kindlund Family Scholarship, which will provide $2,500 to a deserving college-bound high school senior or college undergraduate student interested in majoring in business, finance, economics or accounting.
Friday (April 12) is the deadline for applying for the 2002-2003 academic year.
An application form can be printed off the RVDA’s website, www.rvda.org, and faxed to the RVDA Education Foundation at (703) 591 0734.
The Kindlund scholarship is available to RV-related company employees or their dependents based on financial need. Dealer principals or their dependents are not eligible.
Applicants must have a 2.8 or better grade point average, cumulative as of the application deadline, and a minimum SAT score of 1050 (or minimum ACT composite score of 22).
In additional to high school seniors, first or second year college undergraduates are eligible.
Applicants must write an essay on their goals and objectives for attending college and they must submit a copy of their Free Application for Student Aid (FAFSA) form. FAFSA forms are available from school guidance counselors or they can be filled out for free online at www.fafsa.ed.gov.
Applicants also must show the ability and willingness to fund a portion of their educational expenses on their own and they must be accepted to an accredited four-year college or university in order to receive the scholarship.
The scholarship program was created by Newt and Joanne Kindlund, founders of the Holiday RV Superstores chain of RV dealerships, control of which they sold during 1999. The Kindlunds have donated $270,000 so far to the RVDA Education Foundation’s endowment.
