The potential closing of Thor America’s plant in Middleburg, Pa., will have no effect on a nearby Kingsley Coach Inc. facility, according to The Daily Item.
Currently, Thor America supplies RV bodies for Zimmerman, Minn.-based Kingsley Coach, which manufactures standard and custom motorhomes and special-use coaches built on heavy-duty semi-truck chassis.
John Merkent, chief financial officer for Kingsley, said he is not worried that officials are talking about shutting down the Thor America facility by April 15. Currently, parent company Thor Industries Inc. is in negotiation with around 120 union workers at the plant.
Merkent said that Kingsley Coach’s Middleburg plant could get shell bodies from other Thor-owned facilities.
The Middleburg plant, which employs 12 people, produces coaches and handles some customer service, according to Merkent.
