Kampgrounds of America Inc. (KOA) has created a new grant program designed to encourage more North Americans to get outdoors and enjoy their “adventure of a lifetime.”
According to a press release, KOA “Get Out There” grants are available to all U.S. and Canadian citizens, and will provide funding for grant recipients to experience a special dream adventure of their own design.
Grants can be awarded in any amount from $1,000 to $5,000 per person. Applicants can visit www.koa.com/grants for complete information about the grant program, as well as a link to the easy grant application form.
“We want to encourage more North Americans to get outside and experience all that the U.S. and Canada have to offer,” said KOA Chairman and CEO Pat Hittmeier. “At KOA, we know what an outdoor experience can do for the human spirit, and we want to encourage more people to get outside, whether it be camping or some other type of outdoor adventure.”
The application deadline for “Get Out There” grants is June 22. While KOA is sponsoring the grants, there is no requirement that an individual’s proposed adventure include camping in order to receive a “Get Out There” grant.
“We are looking for compelling personal stories and innovative adventures that we hope will result in once-in-a-lifetime outdoor experiences for our grant recipients,” Hittmeier said. “It might be camping, but it also could be about an adventure that tests personal limits, reconnects friends and family, or fulfills a lifelong goal. A KOA ‘Get Out There’ grant could truly be anything. In this case, the sky is literally the limit.”
Each applicant will be asked to describe their “dream adventure” in the application form, and include precisely why they and their adventure would be deserving of a “Get Out There” grant.
