The Albuquerque, N.M., location of Kampgrounds of America (KOA) Inc. will serve as the Cruise America depot for the city and surrounding region.
The site will house and maintain 50 Cruise America rental Class C motorhomes and truck campers. Customers who rent the units will have the option of staying their first night at the Albuquerque campground at a discounted rate.
“We feel that Albuquerque is an ideal model location that we hope to replicate across the country,” said Bob Calderone, assistant vice president of marketing and development for Mesa, Ariz.-based Cruise America.
The agreement is intended to offer an increased level of service to KOA guests by offering a convenient place to pick up and return rental RVs. While at the location, guests can obtain information and directions to other campgrounds along their route.
“This alliance will especially support our many international campers,” said Shane Ott, vice president of company properties of KOA, which is based in Billings, Mont. “(The agreement) will introduce them to our country with a complete and convenient start to their camping vacation.”
