Campers kicked off the 2018 summer camping season at KOAs last weekend with huge numbers for the annual KOA Care Camps “Big Weekend” event.
According to a release, the annual event raises funds to support more than 125 specialized North American summer camps for children with cancer and their siblings.
Camping check-ins for the May 11-12 Big Weekend event were up nearly 5% over the results from the Big Weekend last year. More than 400 KOA campgrounds in North America participated.
Campers who stayed as paying guests on Friday (May 11) received a night of camping on Saturday for just $20. The entire $20 fee is provided directly to the KOA Care Camps charity.
