Recently retired Fleetwood Enterprises Inc. chairman Glenn Kummer and former Fleetwood information technology executive Gary Pace have teamed to market an Internet-based campground reservations and office management service called ReservationFriend.com.
It is being marketed by Anaheim, Calif.-based Friend Communications, of which Pace is the president.
Meanwhile, Kummer is an advisor/investor and David Gorin, former president of the National Association of RV Parks and Campgrounds (ARVC), is an advisor to Friend Communications.
ReservationFriend.com involves the use of “a new Internet-based software tool designed to connect campers and RVers to available campsites and facilities.” It is the “first in the industry to combine real-time Internet reservations with sophisticated front office management tools utilizing a web-based application,” Pace said.
“Other products and services force campground owners to upload inventory to the Internet,” Pace continued. “With our system, everything is centralized and they maintain control of their complete inventory, using a single application.”
ReservationFriend.com will streamline front office operations, increase occupancy, simplify the guest reservation experience and enable park owners to self-manage their web site marketing efforts, Pace added.
It eliminates the need for campground operators to allocate a portion of their inventory to third-party reservation services who, then, for a fee, sell the sites at reduced rates, he said.
Pace worked for Fleetwood for 20 years in finance, operations management and technology management. He founded Friend Communications last year.
Kummer was Fleetwood’s CEO until he retired from that position effective April 30, 2001. He resigned as chairman in February but remains a member of the Fleetwood Board.
Gorin resigned from ARVC in January and now operates a McLean, Va.-based consultant firm that bears his name.
