For the second time this year, La Mesa RV Center is holding a job fair in Indiana’s Elkhart County seeking workers to fill primarily service and sales positions at its network of 11 dealerships in California, Arizona, New Mexico and Florida.

Steve Love, marketing manager for La Mesa RV, told RVBUSINESS.com that the three-day hiring event, which opened today (July 24) at the Fairfield Inn and Suites in Elkhart, stems from a combination of surging sales and the ongoing need for experienced technicians.

“Certainly everybody in the industry is seeking qualified technicians, so we’re not alone in that respect,” Love said. “Obviously we’re looking for personnel in Elkhart because it’s the hub of the RV industry. The workforce is well trained and highly qualified. Our main focus is on service and sales, but we have a variety of positions that we are looking to fill.”

Love noted that La Mesa offers an attractive option for workers who are interested in a change of scenery. “La Mesa is a financially stable dealership with over 43 years in the business that continues to grow and evolve,” he said, adding that the dealership is offering relocation assistance. “We’re looking for people that want to stay in the industry, but maybe would like to live in a different climate. Although all our locations are involved in the search, we have really seen growth in the Florida market.”

La Mesa RV held its first Elkhart job fair in January and Love said it resulted in some hirings. “Our HR people found it successful enough that we decided to return in late July,” he said.

In a press release, La Mesa President Jim Walters confirmed that the company’s growth had heightened the need for qualified workers.

“The RV industry has seen impressive growth in shipments this past year causing more demand in our service departments. To better serve our customers and keep up with the level of quality that La Mesa RV prides itself on we are hosting a job fair to hire qualified technicians to fill current openings,” Walters said. “Part of providing an excellent experience for our customers is making sure we are fully staffed so that we can meet and exceed our customer’s expectations.”
