San Diego-based La Mesa RV plans to open a dealership next month on the former Destinations RV site in Coburg, Ore., according to The Register-Guard newspaper of Eugene, Ore.
It will be the ninth location for La Mesa, which has its other stores in California and Arizona. “The Oregon dealership seemed to meld well with our other markets,” La Mesa Executive Vice President Jim Walters told the Register-Guard.
La Mesa bills itself as the world’s largest Winnebago Industries dealer, but it will not handle Winnebago products in Coburg because RV Corral in Eugene already handles the territory on behalf of Winnebago.
Instead, in Coburg, La Mesa will sell motorhomes built by National RV and Forest River and Monaco Coach’s Beaver brand. Additionally, it will sell Keystone and King of the Road towables in Coburg.
La Mesa plans to hire 50 people to staff its new location by the time it opens in July.
The former Destinations RV site along Interstate-5 has been idle since Destinations RV went bankrupt during December 2000. La Mesa is leasing the property, according to the Register-Guard.
