La Mesa RV’s display at Super B Show in Phoenix

Attesting to the strong demand for smaller motorhomes, La Mesa RV has organized the first “Super B” RV show to be held in Southern California.

The event, which originally launched in Phoenix, will take place at the Del Mar Fairgrounds in San Diego on Sept. 26-30, featuring both new and used motorhomes in lengths from 19- through 25-feet.

Show organizer Steve Love, director of marketing at La Mesa, told RVBUSINESS.com that “The Class B motorhome buyer may be of the Millennial generation but also includes people that want to have quick getaways, but don’t want a big motorhome. With limited parking availability in the San Diego area, the Class B or mini-motorhome is not only maneuverable but will typically fit in a standard parking space, making the perfect RV for this market.”

A show focused solely on smaller motorhomes is not new to La Mesa. Says Love, the multilocation dealership launched this concept in Phoenix in 2016 and has grown wildly popular. “Since our initial Phoenix show, the small Class-C/Class-B trend has expanded significantly driven in large part by Winnebago’s Era built on the Mercedes Sprinter chassis and other chassis like the Dodge ProMaster a Ford Transit,” said Love.

Continuing to drive interest in smaller motorhomes are new features like bike and kayak racks, and advanced technology like lithium-ion batteries, tankless water heaters, and driver and safety upgrades, especially in the redesigned Mercedes Sprinter chassis. “We see the excitement all the time from buyers coming into our dealerships,” Love noted. La Mesa operates RV dealerships in Arizona, California, Florida, and New Mexico.

The Del Mar Super B Show will feature smaller Class C and B motorhome brands from Winnebago, Tiffin, Jayco, Thor Motor Coach, Pleasure Way, Midwest Automotive Designs, Entegra, and Hymer. La Mesa staff will be on hand as well as manufacturers’ representatives. In addition, a selection of pre-owed smaller RV units will be available for purchase.

Timing of the show is set to coincide with cooler weather and fall vacation plans. Show hours each day are 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. with free admission and free parking. For more information about the show go to RVShowUSA.com.
