While the Florida RV Trade Association’s (FRVTA) SuperShow opens today (Jan. 13) in Tampa, the Lazydays RV SuperCenter annual SuperSale continues a few miles away.
Lazydays, an FRVTA member, is the nation’s largest single-location RV dealer, achieving a record of over $750 million in sales during 2003.
The FRVTA’s SuperShow, which opens for consumers on Wednesday (Jan. 14) and continues through Sunday (Jan. 18), takes place on the Florida State Fairgrounds, only a few miles west along I-4 from Lazydays’ expansive complex in Seffner, Fla.
Despite the timing and proximity, Lazydays and FRVTA executives view the two events as being complementary, not competitors.
This year’s Lazydays’ SuperSale began Jan. 2 and continues through Jan. 31. The dealership currently has 1,432 new and used units in stock, according to its website.
Lazydays inventories 17 new motorhome and towable RV brands and 140 models of those brands.
For Lazydays and other dealers in the Sun Belt, the peak RV sales season is the reverse from what it is for dealers in the North. That means January is one of the biggest sales months for Lazydays and other Florida dealers while it is one of the slowest months for dealers in the so-called Frost Belt.
The large number of snowbird visitors in Florida during January also explains why the FRVTA’s “Tampa Super Show” is viewed by the industry as drawing a national clientele.
