Company officials said a fire last week at a plant owned by Lippert Components, a Goshen, Ind.-based supplier of RV frames and specialty slideout systems, will not slow down production.
According to a report in the South Bend Tribune, no workers were in the manufacturing facility when the fire broke out Thursday night (Jan. 6).
The fire destroyed a paint booth and Lippert reported that operations would be transferred to another facility in nearby Middlebury. The plant produces and paints frames for the RV and manufactured housing industries.
“I don’t believe it will have a significant impact,” said Fredric Zinn, the executive vice president and chief financial officer for White Plains, N.Y.-based Drew Industries, Lippert’s parent company.
Zinn said the company hasn’t yet determined what caused the fire, “but there are suspicions that it was electrical.”
Once overall damage was assessed, Zinn said the company would make a decision on rebuilding or constructing a new facility.
