Lippert Components Inc., a supplier of chassis to the manufacturers of towable RVs, will be honored by Indiana officials on Monday (Sept. 25) for the $4.5 million expansion to its plant in Goshen, Ind.

The expansion included a $2 million investment in a new powder coating operation that replaces liquid paints and eliminates volatile organic compound emissions.

The powder coating facility, which went into operation four weeks ago, is capable of producing 3,500 towable RV and manufactured home chassis per month, said Jason Lippert, executive vice president.

Indiana Lt. Gov. Joe Kernan will attend the open house on Monday at Lippert and the company also will receive the Eartha award from the Greater Elkhart Chamber of Commerce.

Lippert, a unit of White Plains, N.Y.-based Drew Industries Inc., has been expanding rapidly because certain major towable RV manufacturers have decided to buy chassis from independent suppliers instead of assembling their own, Jason Lippert said. For example, Lippert now has chassis assembly plants near all 13 of Fleetwood’s towable assembly plants in the U.S. and Canada.

Lippert has built plants nears its customers’ facilities to reduce shipping costs.

Fleetwood, based in Riverside, Calif., is the market share leader in towable RVs.
