According to a press release, Thor Livin Lite worked with Ford designers to adopt design cues from the aluminum-bodied F-150 into the aluminum campers. The lineup of Ford-branded RVs will grow to include tent campers, travel trailers, truck campers, toy haulers and fifth-wheels for sale through Thor Livin Lite dealers.
The 2015 F-150 is up to 700 pounds lighter than the 2014 truck, and Thor Livin Lite campers are typically 30% lighter than the competition. This weight-saving combination is designed to improve fuel efficiency for RV customers.
“I can’t tell you how excited we are to work with a company as prestigious as Ford and bring their iconic brand name back into the RV industry,” said Scott Tuttle, president of Wakarusa, Ind.-based Thor Livin Lite. “Ford believes enough in our unique aluminum construction to allow us to carry the ‘Built Ford Tough’ label, which says a lot.”
The debut Ford-branded camper model design will appear at next week’s National RV Trade Show in Louisville, Ky. Thor Livin Lite plans to release other models in time for sale in 2015.
