Fun Roads, a 24/7 cable TV channel celebrating the open road, announced that Bob Livingston will lead the channel’s outreach to the RV industry.
Livingston, a 2014 inductee into the RV/MH Hall of Fame, announced last December that he would retire from his day-to-day duties at GS Media & Events in Southern California where he was senior vice president and group publisher of Trailer Life and MotorHome magazines, and the creator and executive producer of the popular television series, RVToday.
“Bob is the rarest of the rare in the RV industry,” said Ashley Gracile, Fun Roads founder and CEO. “He’s a senior executive who’s just as conversant with C-Suite management of publicly-traded RV companies as he is shooting the breeze about an RVer’s DIY project. He also has significant broadcast TV experience as the creator and producer of RVToday, which was nationally broadcast for multiple seasons and was one of the top RV television series ever produced. We’re thrilled to be working with him again.”
“Over my 45 years in the RV industry, I’ve seen a number of good ideas, but Fun Roads is a unique and exciting program that really captured my imagination and enthusiasm,” said Livingston. “A once-a-week, 30-minute TV show that speaks to a single demographic category has a limited reach. Now for the first time, there’s programming that is targeted toward people with multiple interests through the use of 35-40 different TV shows and is available for viewing 24 hours a day, seven-days week. These viewers all have one thing in common: getting out on the road and enjoying the freedom it brings. When you consider that most of these viewers don’t own an RV, but are clearly predisposed to road travel, the opportunity to reach first-time RV buyers is very exciting.
“I’m not surprised that it was Ashley Gracile who came up with the idea,” he added. “He invented the genre of weekly RV television programming with Distant Roads in 1989 and I’m excited to be working with him and his team as we introduce Fun Roads to the RV industry.”
