Longtime RV dealer Leisure Tyme RV has shut down, leaving about 35 employees out of work at the company’s headquarters in Mary Esther, Fla.
According to a report by the Northwest Florida Daily News, locations in Summerdale, Ala., and Pensacola, Fla., were also closed.
Leisure Tyme, owned by Gayle Hill, has been in business for over 30 years. The Daily News reported that an employee who answered the phone today (Feb. 23) said she and others were at work out of the “kindness of their hearts.” They are no longer being paid, she said, declining to give her name.
“It’s a family,” she explained. “An RV family.”
She cited “economic times” as the reason for the closure and said inventory started moving out last week.
The lot is empty and a sign in front of the businesses thanks customers for 30 years of support and ends with, “Good Bye.”
