Ground was broken last week for the development of a 512-space resort for luxury motorcoaches in Coachella, Calif., according to The Business Press of Ontario, Calif.
The resort will be called The Vineyards and the developer is Rancho Heights LLC.
It will be completed in October or November and some lots have been pre-sold, according to The Business Press.
The Vineyards will be for motorhomes retailing for “$500,000 and up” and the price for buying spaces begins at $199,900, said Walter Luce, managing partner of Rancho Heights. The top price is $350,000 for spaces along the golf course that will be included, he added.
“When we began planning for this project two years ago, our research indicated that the market for the high-end motorcoach facility was virtually untapped,” said Jim Jamosic, project manager for The Vineyards. “We had an opportunity to take the local market up a notch from what was available at other parks around the valley.”
RV resorts in the desert east of Palm Springs along Ramon Road, Date Palm Drive and Calif. Highway 111 “are completely full all of the time,” Luce told The Business Press. “People were paying to park their motorcoaches at parks and then purchasing a condo so they could be near their coaches.”
Consequently, among the amenities that will come with each motorhome parking space at The Vineyards is a “casita,” or small house, which will include a bath, bedroom, office and a garage big enough for one car and one golf cart. Some casita floorplans include a fireplace, pool or spa, full kitchen, tile floors and granite countertops.
The Vineyards’ also will include a nine-hole golf course that will be owned by the residents, along with four lakes, including two fishing piers. The resort also is near a recently completed Love’s Truck Stop, which has 25,000 square feet of motorhome maintenance space available.
The Vineyards will be “a gated country club community for the discerning vagabond,” Luce added.
