A luxury RV resort is among the amenities planned for a new raceway proposed for Waxahachie, Tex., which is south of Dallas, according to the Dallas Morning News.
The new development, called Boundless Motorplex, would be on 1,420 acres and would include a grand prix-style road-race course along with five motocross tracks and a lake for personal watercraft and powerboat races, the newspaper reported.
The $100 million project is scheduled to open in 2004 and would include seating for 100,000 race fans.
A Dallas-based development company, GPX, has signed an agreement to buy the 1,420 acres and its proposal has the support of Waxahachie’s mayor, the Morning News reported.
However, Boundless Motorplex would be the third major raceway in the Dallas/Fort Worth area, and the newspaper quoted skeptics who question whether the development would receive enough fan support.
The other major raceways in the Dallas/Fort Worth area are the Texas Motor Speedway in Fort Worth, where NASCAR races are held and where there is a large, adjoining RV park, and the Texas Motorplex in Ennis, where National Hot Rod Association drag races are held.
