Construction of a $23 million RV resort for units in the $600,000 to over $1 million price range began recently in Indio, Calif.

The 60-acre facility will be known as the Desert Shores Motor Coach Resort and it will feature 120-foot by 60-foot lots that will only be available for purchase beginning at $120,000.

The developer is Desert Shores LLC, a partnership including Southern California entrepreneurs Jim Hayhoe and Dan Jacobsson and Brent Nerguizian of Scottsdale, Ariz.

The first 68 lots will be ready for occupancy around Thanksgiving, which is the beginning of the peak desert tourist season.

Desert Shores will include garages with bathrooms, covered patios, pools, spas, lakes and landscaping. Other amenities will include a 5,300-square-foot clubhouse, exercise room and a manned security gate. Options will include smokers, fire pits and outdoor fireplaces.
