Macdonald’s RV Center, based in Plainville, Mass., is marking its 70th anniversary in 2017. The dealership, now run by Karen Macdonald, continues to operate from a single lot almost in the shadow of Gillette Stadium, home of the New England Patriots.

“The Macdonald family business is a model for small business success in what we all know can be a very competitive business throughout the country,” said Bob Zagami, executive director of the New England RV Dealers Association (NERVDA), in a press release. “The personal service they bring to the dealership every day, and the professional pride exhibited with their customers, suppliers and manufacturers have set the standard for others to follow.”

He added, “Our industry is blessed with many small dealers like Macdonald’s RV Center, that provide outstanding products, incredible after-sale support and service, and present an inviting family environment and a friendly smile every time a prospect or customer walks through the door. Karen has continued the family tradition started by her grandfather, built bigger and better by her father Alvin, who passed away just last year, and improved upon every year that she has been at the helm.”

Macdonald’s focuses on new and pre-owned travel trailers and fifth-wheels. Reinie Lehberger is the general manager and the company recently added Greg Cory as its new service manager, both industry veterans with experience at larger, multilocation dealerships.

Linda Mailhot, NERVDA’s president, and owner of Seacoast RVs in Saco, Maine, noted, “We are delighted to congratulate Karen and her employees for their outstanding commitment to their customers and providing quality service to the RV community for 70 years. Karen leads by example and many of her customers are now in their second or third generation owners of an RV purchased at Macdonald’s RV Center.”

Fran and Shirley Roberts, owners of Long View RV in Windsor Locks, Conn., now in its 58th year, noted, “We love Karen and her family and appreciate everything they have done to build such a quality dealership in New England. Karen is dedicated to her employees and customers, and it shows in the respect the dealership has earned in our industry.”

The dealership launched it 70th anniversary celebration with special deals at all the recent consumer shows around New England and will hold a large open house March 10-12 on it lot in Plainville.
