A Nevada man was convicted in federal court in Grand Rapids, Mich., for stealing motorhomes in west Michigan, television station WZZM reported.
Ronald Bruce Myers, 56, faces up to 35 years in prison for the conspiracy and theft of the motorhomes. The thefts include three motorhomes from Michigan: A Country Coach from Holland Bus and Motor Homes in March of 2012 and two from Midway RV Center of Kentwood in May 2012. He also stole two motorhomes in Alabama, one in Missouri, one in North Carolina, and one in Florida, the television station reported.
He was also convicted of three counts of money laundering and used a series of aliases for false title documents, opening bank accounts and to forward mail. He faces another 60 years in prison for the money-laundering convictions.
He will be sentenced in August.
An accomplice, Walter J. Nunley, of Kentucky, was sentenced last year to 188 months in federal prison after he pleaded guilty and admitted to stealing a motorhome from Holland Motor Homes and two from Midway RV Center in Grand Rapids in 2012, MLive.com reported. The government alleged that they stole three others outside of Michigan with losses totaling around $1.5 million.
