Officials with the Michigan Association of RV Parks & Campgrounds (MARVAC) are calling the recent three-day tech training workshop a success, as some 63 technicians from 10 dealerships participated in the supplier-led seminars.

MARVAC Director Darren Ing told RVBUSINESS.com that the workshop, held Dec. 10-12 at the association’s offices in Okemos, featured three one-day training seminars led by suppliers such as Air Lift, AP/Bauer, King, MEC, MORryde, MTI, Pullrite, SikaFlex and Xantrex.

Additionally, Curt Hemmeler, executive director of the RV Technical Institute (RVTI), was in attendance and discussed how technicians will be able to advance their education under the RVTI certification programs.

“Curt was great; we were thrilled to have him come up,” Ing said. “He explained the RVTI initiatives to everyone and how it is designed for everyone from the brand new tech to the seasoned pro. He also made it very clear that the RVTI is going to showcase the RV technician career path in that through achievements and certifications a tech can climb the ladder and get to that highest level.”

MARVAC board member Terry Goddard, a manufacturers rep with Michigan-based Tom Manning Associates, was credited by MARVAC for spearheading the three-day event, including organizing the training, setting the agenda and recruiting presenters.

“We are very fortunate to have Terry Goddard as a MARVAC board member” said MARVAC Executive Director Bill Sheffer. “RV technicians are a vital component to the success of this industry. Terry’s dedication to the education advancement of these individuals helps guarantee the satisfaction that consumers will have while enjoying RVing.”

“RV Techs are the backbone to the success of the industry. Without them having the knowledge and expertise that they need, consumers would not continue to be able to enjoy the RV lifestyle,” added Ing, who promised that MARVAC would continue to offer more educational course opportunities in the coming year.
