The Michigan Association of Recreational Vehicles and Campgrounds (MARVAC) entered the realm of long-distance learning with an Internet class last week for RV dealers and campground owners on e-mail marketing.
“As far as education is concerned, we’ve been crawling,” said MARVAC Director Bill Sheffer. “We are going to see how it goes and develop other subjects — sales, finance training, marketing.”
The 90-minute class on permission-based e-mail marketing was webcast live over the Internet at 12:30 p.m. on Thursday (Oct. 10) and directed by Wayne Hindmarsh, a marketing specialist from Gross Pointe, Mich.
Dealers, campground owners and employees watched the presentation on local computers and asked questions via telephone.
In other MARVAC news, the association’s annual fall meeting took place Sept. 19 at the Majestic Golf Course, Heartland, Mich. Thirty-five members heard from Recreation Vehicle Industry Association President David Humprheys and National Association of RV Parks and Campgrounds representative Susan Mark.
At a Sept. 17 board meeting at MARVAC headquarters in Okamus, association officers were elected. Mike Rockafellow, with Caswell Co. in Ioana, was elected president, and Tom Smith, of Coachmen Recreational Vehicle LLC, Middlebury, Ind., was elected vice president. Betty Workman, Vacation Trailer Park, Bezonia, was named secretary and Joe Lucas, Citizens Bank, Flint, was elected treasurer.
