The MBA Rental School, running March 3-5 at the Tuscany Suites & Casino in Las Vegas, covers the RV rental gamut including staffing, pricing concepts, fleeting, advertising/promotion and the daily operating procedures. Instructors and students discuss renting motorhomes and trailers and debate the unique advantages of the two operational models – dealer-owned versus managed fleet.
MBA Vice President Josephine Johnson noted the school class size is purposefully kept relatively small so as to invite student interaction in the overall process. “Student participation in the discussions is encouraged – it is more fun and useful rather than just listening to lecture sessions,” she said. “It is the interaction that really brings the group together and provides that extra dynamic.”
Attendees do not have to be a current customer of MBA Insurance, have an existing rental operation, or have ever been in the rental business.
“The purpose of the school is to show you how to be successful renting RVs and to bring you up to date on the latest and greatest ideas,” Johnson said. “We have clients now that will tell us that had it not been for the school – helping them avoid the mistakes that would have been made – they would not have made it.”
The instructors for the school are current active rental dealers who combined have more than 60 years hands-on experience renting RVs. They include: Scott Krenek, Krenek RV in Michigan; Barry Raye, 84 RV in N.J.; and Martin Onken, Expedition Motorhomes in California. Additionally, Leslie Pujo, MBA’s rental law attorney, will again speak on the necessity for the proper rental contracts and forms.
Johnson adds, “Come to the rental school I guarantee you won’t be disappointed, it seems that every year we have repeat attendees coming back for a refresher. We provide a lot of information in just three days.”
