Meyer Distributing Inc. announced the addition of a cross-dock in Casper, Wyo. According to a press release, the cross-dock will have a direct feed from Meyer’s Denver, Colo., distribution hub which houses a large inventory of TB parts and automotive accessories and RV parts for the Mountain States region.
“When possible, Meyer always tries to bring logistics in house where we can control the delivery from start to finish,” says Alex Blackgrove, national cross-dock manager for Meyer. “Our driving staff is trained to handle heavy, bulky items like front-end bumpers, fuel tanks, snowplows and spreaders, and RV awnings to name a few. Our equipment is always equipped with a lift gate to additionally ensure the safest last mile possible from warehouse to the customer’s shop.”
“We continue to invest in our logistics framework,” stated CFO Jeff Braun. “It takes discipline and a good formula to offer the right amount of service to a particular customer base, especially one that is well serviced by competitors. Given the huge differences between population centers out west, we focus on sustainability as the most important goal when establishing routes.
“There is a always a balance between delivering too little, delivering too much, or delivering the optimal amount. We are pleased to announce that our customer base in Wyoming as well as Billings, Mont., and Rapid City, S.D., will now receive two deliveries on Meyer trucks each week.
