Disney has bought feature film rights to “The Last Lap,” a comedy written by NBC Today Show correspondent Mike Leonard, reports Variety.
Leonard, who was recently honored with a “Spirit of America” award from the Recreation Vehicle Industry Association, based the script on his cross-country RV travels with his family.
During the National RV Trade Show, Leonard accepted the award alongside his parents, and highlighted the month-long trek by RV.
The trip, which culminated with the birth of his granddaughter, was shown in segments on The Today Show.
John Ratzenberger, who portrayed know-it-all mailman Cliff Clavin on the comedy sitcom Cheers, also was presented with a “Spirit of America” award at the trade show.
