Monaco Coach Corp. is the first RV manufacturer to offer Sirius Satellite Radio-ready radios as standard equipment on selected models, Monaco and Sirius announced today (July 24).
Sirius has three satellites orbiting directly above the U.S. and it broadcasts 100 channels of digital quality radio throughout the continental U.S. for a subscription fee of $12.95 a month.
There are 60 Sirius channels providing commercial-free music in virtually every genre and 40 channels of news, talk, sports and entertainment.
“We are excited to be the first RV manufacturer to offer satellite radio as an option in our products,” said Pat Carroll, Monaco’s vice president of product development. “Our customers will now be able to greatly enhance their RV experience with the best in commercial-free music, news and entertainment programming from Sirius Satellite Radio coast-to-coast.”
Earlier, Sirius made inroads into the auto market. DaimlerChrysler plans to offer Sirius radios in 17 models of Chrysler, Dodge and Jeep vehicles beginning this fall.
Several other car-makers, including BMW, Nissan and Ford, will begin offering Sirius radios in their vehicles beginning with model year 2003.
