Monaco Coach Corp. has teamed with Porsche Design Studio, a unit of the German high-performance auto manufacturer Porsche AG to help create a distinctive look for some of the RV manufacturer’s high-line products, Monaco President John Nepute said during the company’s national dealer meeting last month.
“While we’re extremely proud of our product development and engineering groups, we’re not above going outside our company for good ideas,” Nepute told the gathering of about 600 people representing around 200 Monaco Coach dealerships. “And that’s one of the reasons we’ve teamed with Porsche design group. We think they were more than up to the challenge.”
In addition to building sports cars and the new Cayenne sport utility vehicle, Porsche AG builds furniture and has licensed its name for use on watches, luggage and tennis rackets.
The German company also is involved in mechanical and electrical engineering and construction.
“And it doesn’t end there,” Nepute said. “We’re constantly on the lookout for new ideas that will give our products more pizzazz, make them easier to sell, and improve their functionality, too.
“The last few years, we’ve spent a great deal of time focusing on product quality and dependability,” he said. “Last year, I talked about reducing the number of models built within each of our plants, which has helped simplify the building process. And as our production teams have become more skilled at building these models, we’ve improved efficiency and reduced errors.”
