Greenfield, Ind.-based Mount Comfort RV donated a 2017 Salem Cruise Lite 261BHXL as part of a major fundraising event for the Ohio, Kentucky, Indiana chapter of the Make-A-Wish Foundation. The event was held April 27 at the downtown JW Marriot in Indianapolis.
According to a press release, the fundraiser was attended by nearly 800 people and raised enough money to fund 86 wishes.
The focus of the evening was 5-year-old Lizzie Crouch whose wish was to go camping with her family. Crouch and her parents were brought center stage where Mount Comfort RV General Manager Ken Eckstein presented her with a basket containing marshmallows, chocolate and graham crackers. It was then revealed hat they were to receive the travel trailer courtesy of the dealer and the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
Crouch and her family plan to pick up their new trailer on May 3 at the dealership. Eckstein noted that this year’s event marked the fifth time the dealership has helped to supply a trailer to Make-A-Wish.
The fundraiser was billed as a black tie event and was hosted by news anchor Frank Mickens of CBS 4 in Indianapolis. Organizers estimated that almost $700,000 was raised at the gala. The event included raffles along with live and silent auctions that included a getaway to Costa Rica, a stay on Hilton Head Island, suite seats to Justin Timberlake on Dec. 14 and a VIP Chicago Cubs ballpark experience.
