A bout of buying late Friday afternoon saved the Nasdaq composite from closing at its lowest level since 1998 _ but not by much.

The Nasdaq gained 15 points, or 0.7%, while the Dow Jones Industrial Average declined 87 points, or 0.8%, on Friday.

Meanwhile, RV company stocks were mixed and here is a roundup of the activity Friday:

Fleetwood declined 15 cents to close at $13.00

Winnebago gained 10 cents to close at $17.10

Thor declined 60 cents to close at $24.30

Coachmen gained 50 cents to close at $11.20

Monaco gained 28 cents to close at $20.56

National RV declined 1 cent to close at $10.96

Skyline gained 41 cents to close at $23.85

SMC declined 1/4 to close at 3 1/4

Holiday RV Superstores gained 1/16 to close at 4 3/16

Rexhall declined 1/16 to close at 6

Kit was unchanged at $3.75

Coast Distribution was unchanged at 75 cents

Featherlite declined 5/32 to close at 2

Spartan Motors gained 1/8 to close at 3 3/8

Starcraft declined 1/8 to close at 1 7/8
