The owners of around 600 Fleetwood Bounder Class A motorhomes are expected to attend the 17th annual national Bounders United Inc. rally at the Oregon State Fairgrounds in Salem Sept. 29-Oct. 2, the Newport (Ore.) News-Times reports.
Bounders United is a non-profit club comprised of the owners of more than 2,800 Bounder Class A’s.
The theme of this year’s rally is Wagons West 2004.
“We’re anticipating a great turnout and, in a burdened economy are hoping to add a bit of a spark to Oregon tourism,” said Barb Harn of Rockaway Beach, Ore., the Welcome Committee Chairperson.
“Bounders will be touring the state for days, even weeks, and we know they’ll be coming to our beautiful coast,” Harn said. “After the rally, folks will scatter, but be assured they will be spending time and money in our state.”
Each Bounder rally attendee will get a welcome bag filled with Oregon tourism information, discount coupons and souvenirs. Among the contributors are the KOA campgrounds in Waldport, Newport and Lincoln City, Ore., Harn said. “However, we are still in need of contributors, whether it is in the form of discounts or door prizes,” she said.
Participating businesses and organizations will get a free listing on the rally’s website and in the rally program.
“These visitors will be shopping in Oregon stores, buying local products, eating in Oregon restaurants, visiting our museums and staying in Oregon RV parks,” Harn said. “It’s a win-win deal for all who participate.”
