If the merger of Thor Industries Inc. and Coachmen Industries Inc. is finalized, then National RV Holdings Inc. would need more time to achieve its goal of becoming the third-largest manufacturer of Class A motorhomes, according to National RV President Raul Gimenez.

On National RV’s web site, Gimenez states the company’s goal is to become the third-largest Class A builder “within the next two years.” However, if Thor is able to acquire Coachmen, then the RV industry’s competitive environment will have changed to the extent that National RV would need more than two years to reach No. 3 in Class A sales, he said today.

During 1999, Coachmen was No. 3 in Class A and Class C motorhome retail sales with a 12.3% marketshare, according to Statistical Surveys Inc.

Thor was No. 5 in Class A and C sales with a 7.6% retail marketshare last year. National RV was No. 6 with at 5.8%.
