Exhibitors were happy with the amount of business transacted at the Great North American RV Rally in Perry, Ga., March 19-23.

An estimated 11,500 people traveling in almost 6,000 RV units took part in the event, which was sponsored by the Good Sam Club, Coast to Coast, the Camping World President’s Club, Trailer Life and Motorhome magazines and Woodall’s publications.

The sponsoring organizations are units of Affinity Group Holding Inc., which also is the parent of TL Enterprises Inc., publisher of RV Business magazine and rvbusines.com.

There were 5,991 RV units registered for the rally in Georgia, almost 600 more the 5,406 units that appeared at the first Great North American RV Rally in Gillette, Wyo., last July.

“We increased our presence in Perry because we were so impressed with last year’s rally (in Wyoming),” said Marsha Watson, advertising manager for Dometic Corp., a supplier of RV refrigerators, awnings and air conditioners. “This has been a great rally (in Georgia), we heightened our presence to show-off new products.”

The Elkhart, Ind.-based Dometic brought 13 technicians to Perry to service the company’s products on attendees’ RVs, Watson added.

Despite worries about a slowing economy, more attendees in Georgia were interested in high-end motorhomes than was the case during the rally in Wyoming last summer, said Don Fults, president of Country Coach Inc., a unit of National RV Holdings Inc, Perris, Calif.
