Fleetwood Enterprises Inc. will introduce its “completely new” model year 2004 American Coach diesel Class A motorhome series on July 17 at the Family Motor Coach Association’s (FMCA) International Convention.
The FMCA gathering will take place in Hamburg, N.Y., a suburb of Buffalo.
“This is the most aggressive and exciting product launch in the history of American Coach,” said John Draheim, vice president of sales and marketing for Fleetwood’s RV Group.
“Over two years of extensive research, development and testing have been dedicated to the all-new 2004 American Coach lineup,” Draheim said.
Despite the relatively soft economy, the diesel Class A motorhome segment has gotten off to a strong start in 2003, Draheim said. Citing Statistical Surveys Inc. data, he said retail sales of diesel Class A’s were up 8.1% during the first quarter of this year, when compared with the first three months of 2002.
Meanwhile, the retail market for gas- and diesel-engine Class A’s, when combined, was down 0.4% in the first quarter.
Fleetwood’s diesel Class A retail sales were up 30.9% when the first quarter of this year is compared with the same portion of last year, Draheim added.
