The Holiday Holdings LLC dealership alliance is in the process of acquiring properties in Jacksonville and Fort Myers, Fla., that will become new RV retail centers, including Camping World aftermarket accessories stores.
Additionally, Pepco RV Center in Tallahassee, Fla., will be renamed Emerald Coast RV Center effective March 15, according to Al Binford, the former Emerald Coast principal who now is a Holiday Holdings regional president.
The Emerald Coast location in Tallahassee will have a Camping World store, Binford said.
The new Jacksonville store will be an Emerald Coast and the Fort Myers site will carry the Dusty’s Camper World name because of Dusty’s strong brand identity in Southwest Florida, he said.
One of Binford’s first moves after joining Holiday Holdings last year and being named a regional president was to acquire Dusty’s Camper World in Bartow, Fla.
In Jacksonville, Holiday Holdings has signed a contract to buy 30 acres along I-95 that was an AutoNation car dealership. That facility will be modified and should open as a new Emerald Coast store in about six months, Binford said.
The Emerald Coast store in Jacksonville will carry Fleetwood Enterprises Inc. motorhomes and towables that are available. Other manufacturers’ brands also will be stocked there, he said.
In Fort Myers, Holiday Holdings has acquired 20 acres of vacant land along I-75 for a Dusty’s store. It should open early in 2005, Binford said.
The Dusty’s location in Fort Myers will carry a range of manufacturers’ brands.
Binford’s plan is to add Camping World stores to all Emerald Coast/Dusty’s locations, except for Bartow, because it is in the territory of the Camping World store located at LazyDays RV SuperCenter in suburban Tampa.
There might not be adequate land available to add a Camping World to the Emerald Coast location in Panama City, Fla., Binford noted.
In the longer term, Binford said, he will look farther north, in Alabama, for possible RV dealership acquisitions for Holiday Holdings. Then, he will look as far West as Louisiana, but he added, “Our plate is pretty full for the next year.”
Camping World is a unit of Affinity Group Inc. (AGI), as is TL Enterprises Inc., publisher of RV Business and RVBUSINESS.com. AGI Chairman Steve Adams is the founder of Holiday Holdings.
