Forest River Inc. plans to build a new 100,000-square-foot factory in Northern Indiana, but the company has not decided whether to build RVs in the new facility, according to Jeff Rowe, spokesman.
In addition to towable RVs and motorhomes, Goshen, Ind.-based Forest Rivers also builds non-RV products including bass and pontoon boats, temporary offices, park models, cargo/utility trailers, shuttle, transit and school buses and handicapped accessible vehicles.
Forest River has not yet decided whether to build the new factory in Goshen or in nearby Topeka, Ind. Officials at the village of Topeka are willing to give a five-year property tax abatement to Forest River but the company is seeking a 10-year property tax break from the city of Goshen.
If Goshen is selected, Rowe said the new facility would be built on vacant land that Forest River acquired last year when it bought Starcraft Corp.’s bus and handicapped accessible vehicles business.
Starcraft Corp. is not affiliated with Starcraft RV Inc., a manufacturer of towable RVs located in Topeka.
