Blue Bird Coachworks’ new Wanderlodge 450 LXi “is the best thing that’s happened to Blue Bird in years,” according to Bill Fiermonti, representative of Parliament Coach Corp. of Clearwater, Fla., the exclusive Blue Bird dealer for Florida, who was quoted by the Macon (Ga.) Telegraph.
The first production model of the 450 LXi, which will be marketed as a 2005 model year unit, will be completed in June, the Telegraph reported.
A prototype of the 450 LXi was shown to potential retail buyers for the first time this week during the Family Motor Coach Association (FMCA) International Convention in Albuquerque, N.Mex.
The 45-foot luxury coach, which carries a price tag of $643,860 for a standard-equipped model, has been in development for more than two years, according to Bryan Hays, Blue Bird’s director of RV sales, who also was quoted by the Telegraph.
A fully loaded version of 450 LXi will be priced around $725,000, according to Parliament’s Fiermonti.
“The response to the 450 LXI has been overwhelming,” Hays added. “This coach delivers benefits that are unique and unparalleled in the market, including state-of-the-art chassis and house multiplex (electric) systems. The 450 LXi boasts the best design features of any coach in the 41-year history of Wanderlodge.”
The 450 LXi comes with a 525-hp Caterpillar engine that complies with the latest EPA emissions standards for diesel engines and an independent front suspension that provides a 54-degree turning angle, the Telegraph reported.
