Newmar Corp., the privately owned Nappanee, Ind.-based manufacturer of high-end Class A motorhomes and fifth-wheels, announced to its dealers Friday (Feb. 24) the appointment of Matthew Miller as president, effective today.
Miller, the son of Newmar owner Mahlon Miller, replaces Dick Parks, who will assume the role of chairman of the board.
Parks had taken over the reins at Newmar, overseeing day-to-day operations and strategic planning, in October of 2004. His departure coincides with a period during which the company has posted declining towable and motorized retail sales.
Newmar spokesmen were unavailable for comment on the appointment.
Prior to his arrival at Newmar, Parks had served as a division general manager and vice president of Fleetwood Enterprises Inc.’s American Coach unit in Decatur, Ind., before assuming the position of senior vice president of Fleetwood’s RV Group.
News of the management change comes as Newmar prepares this week for a special diesel motorhome launch for dealers, slated Tuesday through Thursday at the Century Center in South Bend, Ind., at which the company will showcase a dozen 2007 diesel pusher products. Newmar is anticipating 50-60 dealers will attend the three-day meeting.
