Highline motorhome and towable RV manufacturer Newmar Corp. has hired former Fleetwood Enterprises Inc. executive Richard “Dick” Parks to be its president.

Parks replaces Virgil Miller, who was promoted to chairman, according to Mahlon Miller, owner of the Nappanee, Ind.-based company.

Parks, who left Fleetwood during the summer of 2000, will be responsible for day-to-day operations and strategic planning at Newmar.

“Having known Richard Parks for a number of years and working with him on the RVIA (Recreation Vehicle Industry Association) Board, it is with a great sense of satisfaction that I can endorse the appointment of my dear friend,” said Virgil Miller, no relation to Mahlon Miller.

“Richard shares the same philosophy and ideas in terms of manufacturing quality products and maintaining excellent Newmar employee and customer relationships,” Virgil Miller continued. “I’m excited about him joining the Newmar family and working with the very able Executive Committee that remains in tact.”

Parks had 17 years experience at Fleetwood, where he was a plant general manager, American Coach Division general manager, vice president of the Motor Home Group and, most recently, senior vice president of the RV Group.

Parks holds a bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering from Purdue University and an MBA from the University of Illinois.

Newmar is a 33-year-old company with 750 employees. Its products are sold by independent dealers located across the U.S. and Canada.
