Newmar Corp.’s Dutch Star A-body diesel pusher has been redesigned for 2006 with new front and rear caps, upgraded instrument panel, 84-inch ceilings and is now equipped standard with a 400-hp Cummins ISL diesel engine. With the discontinuation of the Northern Star brand, Newmar also has repositioned the popular Dutch Star in the middle of its diesel brand lineup with retail prices starting at $250,000. With 10 three- and four-slideout floorplans in lengths of 38 to 43 feet, Dutch Star is built on Spartan Mountain Master GT chassis with independent front suspension. Tag axles are featured on two 43-foot floorplans. Previous options, such as hardwood cabinetry, 8.0 PowerTech generators and rear aluminum tow guards with Newmar’s name in stainless steel, are now standard. “For 2005, we had a lot of options that were being ordered over 85% of the time,” said John Sammut, director of sales. “We’ve taken those options and added them as standard equipment, which makes it easier for customers to order units and dealers to inventory pieces.” Other standard features include full-body paint, Corian countertops and range covers, Flexsteel furniture, side-hinged baggage doors, lighted storage, padded vinyl ceilings and hardwood slideroom facias in the living area and bedroom.
