The new Torrey Pine fifth-wheel series from Newmar Corp., available in eight triple- and quad-slide floorplans, retails from the upper $50,000s. The fiver – in 33- to 40-foot lengths – was shown for the first time during Newmar’s annual dealer meeting June 12-16 at the Portofino Bay Hotel at Universal Studio and the Orange County Convention Center, Orlando, Fla. Along with the entry-level Cypress (MSRP from the low $40,000s) released at last year’s Louisville Show, Torrey Pine completes the repositioning of the Nappanee, Ind., manufacturer’s mid-priced fifth-wheel products. Kountry Aire, with retail base prices in the high $80,000s, remains Newmar’s high-end fifth-wheel offering. “They are very similar, with a list of upgrades from one to the other,” said Jeff Cripe, director of towable sales. “It’s very simple for a customer to see that and to step from one product to the other.” Torrey Pine features standard the MOR/ryde rubber equalizer suspension system along with separate shocks. Optional partial paint is available. Standard interior amenities include hardwood raised panel cathedral cabinet drawers, overhead slideout cabinets with leaded glass, Corian countertop edging and backsplashes, sculpted carpeting and padded vinyl ceilings.
