Responding to growing demand in the marketplace for a more compact, lower-profile diesel pusher, Newmar Corp. unveiled this morning (April 25) the all-new 2018 New Aire during its annual dealer meeting at the Gaylord Palms Hotel & Convention Center in Orlando, Fla. In a dramatic rollout of the New Aire, Newmar Vice President of Sales and Marketing John Sammut noted that while its lineup of 34- to 36-foot diesels continues to meet a key segment in the market, buyers were shifting toward “shorter, smaller motorhomes that are easier to drive and get into, without sacrificing on amenities.” Developed over the past two years, the New Aire, available in two floorplans with a base MSRP of $354,467, measures under 34 feet in length and is shorter in height by two inches than the builder’s lowest profile motorhome. “The New Aire also features an entry step that is only four inches off the ground,” Sammut related. In partnership with Freightliner Custom Chassis Corp., Newmar created an entirely new platform, powered by a 360-hp Cummins engine that “for the first time includes a side radiator,” according to Sammut. Other features include Newmar’s V-Ride rear suspension system with independent front suspension, a glass dash with digital instrumentation and Newmar’s proprietary Comfort Ride. Interior amenities offer hardwood cabinets available in four stains, solid-surface countertops, tile flooring power shades on all windows, a cathedral ceiling in the bedroom, all-electric appliances and a hydronic heating and water system. The dealer meeting, which represents the company’s 50th, runs through Thursday.
