Fifth-wheel and motorhome manufacturer Newmar Corp. unveiled the Ventana, a new Class A diesel pusher entry in the company’s product lineup, during its June 12-16 dealer meeting at the Portofino Bay Hotel at Universal Studio in Orlando, Fla. With base retail prices ranging from $174,000 to $205,000, the Ventana features nine floorplans with two to four slideout rooms and standard full-body paint. Built on Freightliner XC raised-rail chassis with GVWR’s of 28,000 and 31,000 pounds, the coaches are equipped with either a 300-hp Cummins ISB diesel engine in the 33-foot floorplans or a 330-hp Caterpillar C7 engine in the 36- and 39-footers. “The Ventana was designed to enter into the diesel market at a price point we didn’t previously have,” said John Sammut, director of sales for the Nappanee, Ind., company. “If our estimates are correct, nobody has a product in this price point. That doesn’t mean, though, that there won’t be a market. We definitely believe there will be.” At the meeting attended by more than 100 Newmar dealers and their families, the company also unveiled the all-new Torrey Pine fifth-wheel and presented generational changes in its Dutch Star A-body diesel pusher and Scottsdale and Country Star Class A gas motorhomes.
