The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHSTA) recently recalled certain Fleetwood and Jayco motorhomes and Forest River fifth wheels.

The Fleetwood units included 276 Vision and Southwind motorhomes. The model year 1999 and 2000 units were built from November 1998 through July 1999.

NHTSA believes generator exhaust gases can accumulate beneath the slide-out portion of the Vision and Southwind units and seep into the vehicle interior. Dealers will replace the generator exhaust pipe with a new exhaust pipe designed to terminate at a location other than under the extended slide-out room.

The Jayco units include 432 model year 2000 Eagle and Designer motorhomes built between June and December 1999.

NHTSA ordered dealers to replace certain pleated shades that failed the “Flammability of Interior Materials” standard, FMVSS No. 302.

The Forest River units included 115 model year 2000 fifth wheels. The 34CK-TS and 37RL-TS units were built between November 1999 and February 2000.

NHSTA believes the LP gas hose connecting the kitchen range and the refrigerator in the slide-out room with the main LP gas manifold will experience rotational stress. Dealers will install a manifold and then attach a hose with a high compression end fitting to a brass fitting, which will allow the hose to flex side-to-side, rather than rotationally.
