The National Marine Manufacturers Association (NMMA) reported that powerboat registrations were up through May on a rolling 12-month, year-over-year basis. Registrations also rose 1% on a rolling three-month, year-over-year basis.
Soundings Trade Only reported that personal watercraft were up 13%, followed by cruisers (8%) and towboats (5%). NMMA reported that registrations of new saltwater fishing boats were up 5% in the rolling three-month period, year-over-year, through May after being down the first quarter.
New pontoon registrations were down 3% R3M, YOY through May.
“We anticipate modest growth of up to 2% in new powerboat unit sales in 2019 and saw steady sales momentum in several segments through May, heading into June, July and August — the busiest selling months of the year,” NMMA president Thom Dammrich said in the story.
