The National Park Service has extended the comment period to Dec. 22 on its proposal to charge up to $70 to visit 17 of the country’s most popular national parks during peak months.
According to cleveland.com, the public can comment on the NPS Planning, Environment and Public Comment website parkplanning.nps.gov/proposedpeakseasonfeerates. Written comments can be sent to 1849 C Street, NW, Mail Stop: 2346 Washington, DC 20240.
The original deadline of Nov. 23 for the the entrance fee hike was “extended to accommodate interest in this issue from members of Congress and the public,” the park service said in a news release. “Already, more than 65,000 comments have been received on the proposals.”
