The 2006 Islander Class A diesel pusher returns to the top of National RV’s motorhome lineup, featuring standard full body paint. In hiatus after limited production for the 2003 model year, the Islander is available in two 40-foot floorplans on a 32,000-pound GVWR Spartan Mountain Master flat-floor chassis, powered by a 400-hp., 8.9 liter Cummins ISL turbocharged diesel engine. “We expect this to be a niche product,” said Tony Cohen, marketing director for the Perris, Calif., manufacturer. The Islander is equipped with standard OnStar and Pioneer GPS systems, turn-signal activated rear-view cameras and side-opening pass-through storage doors. Interiors feature bus-style dashes with retro-look ergonomic switches, solid raised-panel cabinet doors, Corian countertops and 32” LCD TVs. Retail pricing starts at $270,000.
