NRVIA logoThe National Recreational Vehicle Inspectors Association (NRVIA) is hosting a webinar at 8 p.m. (EST), Thursday (March 26), for those interested in learning how to become a professional RV inspector.

Participants will learn how they can develop their own RV inspection business, or join one of the larger organizations that are currently contracting with certified RV inspectors across the country.

The NRVIA is a membership-based organization providing certification and credentials for professional RV inspectors. The association was created in 2014 by Terry Cooper, an RVDA/RVIA Master Certified RV Technician, and Steve Anderson, who is the president/owner of Workamper News Inc.

Cooper, known as the “Texas RV Professor” who operates the Mobile RV Academy, said NRVIA is gaining traction as more RV dealers are realizing the benefits of marketing previously owned units as having been independently certified.

“We have begun to have dealerships asking for inspections on their used units so they can use the same marketing angle as the car dealerships are using. We call it the Certified Pre-Owned Dealers Program. These dealers are asking for an independent third-party NRVIA inspector to perform the inspection so they can create piece of mind for the consumer and ask for a higher sales price,” Cooper told RVBUSINESS.com.

He added that the need for RV inspectors is expected to rise as the demand for used RVs increases.

“With 22,000 Baby Boomers retiring each day, RV sales are going through the roof — especially the pre-owned market. RV inspectors are needed more today than ever before in the RV industry,” he said, adding that he expects RV inspectors eventually will become as much a factor in the RV marketplace as home inspectors are in the real estate industry.

In addition, Cooper said NRVIA will be at the 2015 RVDA International Convention/Expo, Nov. 2-6 at Bally’s on the Strip in Las Vegas, where dealers can learn more about both the Certified Pre-Owned Dealer and RV Rental Inspection programs.
