The Odyssey Group has begun construction of a 200,000-square-foot warehouse at its headquarters in Bristol, Ind.
In addition to distributing electrical, electronic, plumbing, hardware, fastener, and building materials to its RV and other customers, Odyssey will fill the new facility with its engineering and light manufacturing departments.
The additional building will bring the total warehouse space for the Odyssey headquarters to 400,000 square feet. The company hopes to be in the new building in the fall.
“This investment in our growth will allow Odyssey to take on additional product lines and improve on its existing relationship with surrounding and national manufacturers,” said Lindsey Stults, president of Odyssey. “We have great people doing great things at Odyssey. Our growth is attributed to them. The new facility will add to our main distribution hub for the Midwest and is desperately needed as we are busting at the seams in our current building.”
He added, “Except for our most recently started locations, all of our facilities have grown in size.”
The new building is to be dedicated in the name of one of Odyssey’s first employees who unexpectedly passed away at the end of last year.
“We have our main building, which has our offices and warehousing, and the new building will be called the ‘Mark building’ after Mark VanDeSompele,” said Stults. “He was one of our first employees eight years ago and we wouldn’t be where we are today without his hard work and dedication. We miss him, and this was our way of remembering him.”
The Odyssey Group maintains its own personnel and warehouse facilities at 11 locations across the country: Indiana, Oregon, Idaho, California, Arizona, Texas, Alabama, Georgia, Florida, North Carolina and Pennsylvania. A third party is used in the Kansas market.
Odyssey also serves the manufactured housing, modular, commercial structures, marine, utility trailer and specialty vehicle industries.
