With almost a $1 billion at stake, manufacturers kept busy doing one thing at the Elkhart RV Open House this week: Selling RVs.

“Sales were as hot as the weather,” said Curtis Gunter, division manager for Forest River Inc.’s Sandpiper, Sierra and Riverstone lines.

As reported by the Elkhart Truth, even as the waning hours of the open house came to a close late Thursday morning, dozens of dealers could still be seen eyeing the newest RV models and making final decisions on what they wanted to stock up on for the year to come.

“This year definitely topped last year in sales. Everyone was very upbeat,” said Gunter.

For suppliers, the Open House allows them to also share the spotlight with the bigger RV manufacturers. Genesis Products was showing off the wood and laminate products they make for the RV industry. The company was founded in Elkhart in 2002 and is located across the street from the Dynamax facility used for the Forest River Open House on C.R. 6.

“It just gives us a chance to connect our partners with designers and product managers and really converse,” said Alysha Liljeqvist, director of marketing and communications.
